Pregnancy Back Pain & the Webster Technique

Sacral and other pelvic misalignments during pregnancy can be a primary cause of low back pain and/or sciatica for many women. These misalignments may also contribute to difficult labor and delivery for the expectant mother. Sacral and pelvic misalignments can pinch or compress nerves and produce tightening and torsion of pelvic muscles and ligaments producing pregnancy related pain. The Webster technique is a specific chiropractic approach to treating pregnant women. It involves the examination and treatment of sacral misalignments using the gentlest adjustment approaches for this patient population. The goal of the treatment is to reduce the effects of sacral and Sacroiliac/SI joint dysfunction and misalignment to help facilitate the normal neuro-biomechanical functioning of the pelvis.
